The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton

Seton Shrine Museum

The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton is both a living celebration of the work of the first American-born Catholic saint and the historic site where her ministry began. Visitors come from around the world to worship in the basilica named for her and to learn of her example of service that continues to inspire the work of an international order founded by her in historic buildings that remain at the site. Elizabeth Seton’s story resonates deeply with contemporary visitors as her journey to overcome personal tragedy led her to a renewed faith and a life of service to others. She left a written record of her journey that informs museum exhibits and site interpretation to create an intimate connection to an inspiring American woman and accessible faith figure.
