Virginia Museum of History and Culture

Commonwealth Explorers

Everyone has childhood experiences that build a view of the world or linger as precious family memories. As agents of transformation, PRD is honored that we are gifted opportunities to be creators of these moments. In Richmond, Virginia, we worked with the Education team at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture to craft a gallery for the Commonwealth’s littlest visitors. Here, children of all ages can explore the power of community helpers and explore the objects that help them do their work. Or, pick state agricultural products and prepare them in a food truck for all to enjoy. See sights of the past from the Museum’s vast postcard collection and sort them into their regional mailboxes. Or, learn first hand the behind-the-scenes work that’s done at the museum.

“I have grandchildren and they can’t wait to go to “the broken bowl” museum.  The children’s play area has a bowl there that breaks into pieces – resembling an item an archeologist would dig up. Once they “break the bowl” we go discover our history and culture.”
