Included in the Master Plan for the Museum of Alabama, but unrealized in Phases 1 and 2, was a modern exhibit gallery to serve young children and their families that is commensurate in quality to the rest of the Museum of Alabama.
In Phase 3, PRD and ADAH completed a purposefully designed gallery prioritizing early childhood learning opportunities and multi-generational interaction based on community engagement. Now called the Children’s Gallery, the exhibit’s main goal is to foster curiosity for and connection to Alabama’s history through play. When children and their family members explore this space, they understand that they are part of Alabama’s history and future.
