Working with the Museum’s chief curator and with guest artist-curator William Christenberry, PRD designed the four first-floor galleries of the renovated Smithsonian American Art Museum. Conceived as a “re-introduction” of national treasures of painting, sculpture, and folk art, PRD created dramatic displays in which artwork is composed with curatorial text and artist’s quotations to make the artist’s vision more accessible and to show how art in its many forms reflects the American Experience.
